weekly finds: home improvements

weekly finds

Now that we have decided to stay put in our current space like discussed here, small updates are in order for a refresh. Once the light construction work was complete, we began to tweak the decor. In this Weekly Finds post, here’s a glimpse of our newly purchased objects (except for the leather chair and painting which are wish list items!). Even small changes make a big impact so if things feel stale in your home, try updating items like an area rug or table lamp to give the place a little sprucing. Happy weekend ya’ll!

As promised from earlier this week, today I’m sharing some of my current favorite spring/summer sale picks from two coveted shopping sites, each offering up to 50% off seasonal product. With the unofficial kick off of summer, now is as good a time as any to stock up on key pieces for the season ahead. weekly finds: the nursery

nursery decor

So the latest and greatest news happenings in the Greenstein-Weisberger household is we have decided to remain in our apartment instead of moving. Though we seemed to find a few cool spaces along our hunt, nothing blew us away except for one apartment we unfortunately were outbid on. After that, it was slim pickings and we didn’t want to make such a hefty investment on something we didn’t love! It was getting down to the wire and right before our babymoon, we both agreed that staying put would be the right decision. We love our neighborhood, we love our building and the closer it got to my due date, the less interested we were in turning our world (additionally) upside down. A new baby would do that enough! Once we established our plan, I was able to start building my dream ‘mini’-nursery, something I was eagerly anticipating since the double line confirmed my pregnancy. Our apartment is not tiny and it definitely is a space we can make work. So we hired a contractor, re-worked a few closets and spaces, painted, got rid of a ton of crap and this will now be our baby boo’s first home! And we are both perfectly comfortable and excited about it.

I dedicate this Weekly Finds post to the boo’s first room! Some of the items in the image we’ve already purchased (the crib, dresser, rocker, ‘love’ print, area rug, moroccan pouf & crochet toys), and the remainder are still mulling over. I’ll share the progress along the way, but feeling extra inspired lately and excited to get things settled. I believe they call it nesting!? Oh yes, we are in full effect.

weekly finds: earth day!

jenny greenstein

This past Wednesday, April 22nd was Earth Day and in honor of the wonderful celebration of mother nature, this Weekly Finds post is dedicated to her. I was asked to write-up a contributing style post for Well Rounded NY and feature 5 brands that are leading the way when it comes to conscious consumerism. It is critical in this day and age to pay attention to our shopping habits, and understand the implications of where we spend our money. It’s up to all of us to consider the environment and sustainable business practices when we decide where to invest in our clothes! Fortunately there are many epic companies to choose from that fall under both the sustainable yet fashionable umbrella. That said, hop on over to Well Rounded NY and read about my top 5 favorite socially responsible fashion brands which lucky for me right now, have styles that fit both the belly and beyond! Happy Friday!

weekly finds: eyelet

weekly finds

Hiya, and happy Friday. We’ve been home from California for about a week now, and I’m finally getting over my jet lag. Who would have thought a 3-hour difference could have such an impact? Not me! I’m back at it, coming off of a very awesome and nourishing work week, but am looking forward to the weekend ahead. I was Virtual Styling a spring/summer collection for one of my clients earlier in the week, and she had requested both white eyelet tops and white eyelet dresses. So for this Weekly Finds post, I thought I’d share some of the epicness I came across because while eyelet may be uber feminine when worn on its own (which may not be your look), it can also be super cool when rouged up with fabrics like leather and colors such as black. I love the ethereal sensibility it creates, especially in warmer weather, and while I’ve been coveting this spring/summer 2015 Chloe dress that has been infiltrating my instagram feed, here’s a few more practical (and better price pointed) choices for ya’ll. I currently can’t wear any of it, but you can! Have at it my friends, and an amazing weekend too!

Zara is crushing it with this eyelet/lace dress at $129 which can easily work from work to weekend.

This super pretty eyelet top from Madewell, coming in both white and black will work nicely back to denim. So will this one from Johnny Was Collection.

Isabel Marant is always crushing it with eyelet, and she nails it once again with this top and this dress.

I imagine wearing this perfectly polished Joie dress to a spring/summer sunday bbq, or this one from Madewell.

If you can pull off a crop top, this top from Zara is on point, as is this skirt. And if you can’t pull off a crop top, layering a silky cami underneath like this one from Aritzia works too!

I love the silhouette of this top from Maje. And the combination of lace and eyelet is on point too!

This Vanessa Bruno eyelet top is a mega splurge but it’s so so pretty! Maybe you have some extra bonus money that you feel like spending??

I’m obsessed with this Topshop eyelet dress and envision pairing it with a black leather bootie or a funky gladiator sandal like these from Joie.

Go head-to-toe eyelet in this maxi style from Catherine Malandrino. I love this one too from Alice McCall.

All your summer music festivals can be attended wearing this eyelet romper. This one too from Stone Cold Fox.

Too bad I’m pregnant because I would certainly purchase this midi eyelet dress from Ulla Johnson if I wasn’t. Someone buy it, snap a photo and send me a photo so I can live vicariously through you!
