spotlight: beyonce and h&m

Last week H&M released a new swimwear collection featuring the one and only, iconic Beyonce Knowles (aka Mrs. Carter).  The summer campaign features Beyonce in a few key pieces for the season and according to her are representative of, “the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind”.  In the press release made in March – H&M stated Beyonce is an ideal spokesperson for the campaign, demonstrating “the idea that all women can be all things: strong, vulnerable, sensual, maternal, fun, flirtatious.”  I couldn’t be more thrilled with H&M’s choice to feature Beyonce as a brand ambassador.  As a woman who emphasizes the importance of female empowerment through music, H&M will help send her powerful and vital message globally.  I’ll leave you with these lyrics from one of her songs….and a few beautiful shots from the campaign.  All swimwear available in stores now!  xx – #yoursoulstyle

i’m loving…

Baseball caps – a serious trend hitting the streets.  I’m looking for a cheap one because I know this is going to last 10 seconds.  Keep you posted.  *photo credit*

If you’re like me, sometimes you need a little reminder that achievement comes with hard work.  Although I’d like someone to hand over opportunity on a silver platter (yes, I said it!) – rewarding output comes from the work you put in.  You get what you give so if you want it – give it your all.  *photo credit*

Beyonce’s “Life is But a Dream” documentary on HBO is killer.  I cried, was inspired, felt understood, related to and was entertained all at once.  She is a beaut – from her core.  Check it out. *photo credit*

Leather sweatpants are genius – I’m coveting them this week and once I find the most ideal pair, I will certainly let you know.  Leather ain’t going nowhere next fall.  Stay tuned.   *photo credit*

Happy Wednesday!

grammy fashion 2013

I cannot believe a memo went out to the TV appearing grammy goers asking to consider their outfit choices for the night. The note read this according to the

“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera. Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.”

Ummm – what happened to freedom of expression? And it’s NY fashion week for god’s sake – come on now.

Anyway, here are my faves. Jennifer Lopez looked like a sex goddess (can this woman be any hotter – who cares that she’s robbing the cradle, she can do whatever she wants), Kelly Rowland’s body was rocking and wore her dress instead of it wearing her (whatever she is doing for her tone arms, I need the regimen) and Beyonce can do no wrong – EVER. She is an absolute beauty and looked sophisticated, classic and completely on trend. What did you think?
