the big chill

scarves

I am a total scarf junkie so when the temperature hit the fifties this past Saturday, I welcomed the chill and was excited for my first scarf-wear of the season, documenting it on instagram to express my appreciation of course. The bigger the better, and my collection continues to grow exponentially. My soul style feels there is no better accessory for fall and winter. As a New Yorker, outer layers are just as important as inner since we spend so much time outside. Your head-to-toe ensemble includes coats, scarves, gloves, mittens, hats, etc so pay attention to the details. With that said, I’ve been perusing the interweb for a fresh update and am keeping my eyes on a cozy style from Acne, a neutral print from Malene Birger, a cashmere plaid from J.Crew (mens), a double face gingham from Topshop, an oversized striped style from ASOS, a faux fur from Whistles, a mountain shadow scarf from Madewell and I already picked up this double layered soft style from Zara.

Happy Monday!

gray is the new black

Despite my efforts to bring color into my wardrobe, I consistently defer to black.  It’s edgy, flexible and works with my skin regardless of season.  I leave color for my lip, which is usually a bold red.  When I learned that gray was trending for fall like said here, it provided change, but not a huge departure from my style uniform.  I scooped up these trousers which reminded me of the ones from this post and figured I could easily kill two birds with one stone.  I added in some old stand-bys to complete the look.

shop it:  sweater: old (similar), trousers: Zara, moto jacket: Sfera (similar), shoe: J.Crew, sunnies: Von Zipper, clutch: vintage (similar), lip: Makeup Forever in N45

the heat is on

0c9dff82dace5f259da1f71dcaa9ce69Despite the Indian summer happening over here in NYC (it’s going to be 81 degrees today!), I’ve retired summer styling and moved into fall.  For the past week I’ve been tripped up on what to wear (or not wear) since temperatures are unseasonably warm, but still – fall, I got your back.  A few looks to inspire you through the heat wave…

Have a fantastic weekend and stay cool!  xx jenny

fashion weeks a’coming

3.1 phillip limWe’re just upon fall yet about to see the spring/summer 2014 collections in fashion week which kicks off again next Thursday here in NYC.  It feels like yesterday when just a newbie at blogging, was covering my fav’s from the 2013 shows.  I’ve worked in the industry for a long time and have learned to toggle between seasons – usually strategizing on the current assortment while simultaneously planning for what’s next.  Before our mind fast-forwards toward spring/summer 2014 – let’s enjoy what we can wear now be it military, grunge, leather, an oversized coat, camouflage or the color red!  Here’s a few featured looks (and trends) from earlier this year to get you inspired!  xx jenny

3407800802_1_1_1Good morning and happy Monday.  I’ve taken a deep dive into fall fashion and it’s definitely taking the edge off of summer’s end.  I love, love, love fall clothes because of all the layers and rich textures which make for dynamic head-to-toe styling.  Plus, who doesn’t like to feel cozy?  So much goodness on my wish list!  Here’s a look at some favorite looks from Zara’s current collection.  I’m drooling – literally.  Get inspired ladies!  xx jenny
