Good morning! What a magical fall day here in NYC! And it looks like the rest of the week is expected to be more of the same. I’m enjoying the change in temperature and instagramming the scarcely fallen leaves decorating our concrete jungle – a reminder of a new season. As another tribute that fall has arrived, last night I watched the Emmy’s. Naturally the pre-show is my favorite since we get a full frontal of the head-to-toe ensembles. Many of the stars killed it and I appreciated the trending cobalt color on Tiny Fey in Narciso Rodriguez and Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren. Not that Padma Lakshmi could ever look bad, but she also was a front runner in KaufmanFranco, as was Taylor Schilling in Thakoon and Kate Mara in J. Mendel – all wearing white. For the top three contenders on my best dressed Emmy 2013 list, a few women hit it out of the park between hair/makeup, accessories, dress and best of all confidence – which can elevate a garbage bag. In third place, wearing Prada was Michelle Dockery. Red was a popular choice, but I like how Michelle represented different levels of the color. She kept her hair understated which worked nicely with the amount of dress. The halter neck paired with low back was sexy, but classic. In second place, wearing Calvin Klein Collection was Rose Byrne. I’m growing fond of the color pink and the shade she chose complimented her new blonde locks. The cutout around her midriff is not for everyone, but Rose has a body for days and this silhouette fit her like a glove. The simple accessories kept the total look clean. The first place prize goes to a woman who consistently does it right on the carpet, Claire Danes in Armani Prive’ was a vision. Claire owns her imperfectly, perfect body and is willing to embrace plunging necklaces and show off her assets even if some would argue hers are too ‘small’. This woman knows how to work with her shape. She was one of my favorites at last years Emmy’s too, six months pregnant wearing Lanvin. This years Armani Prive’ dress was sexy, but angelic at the same time – two objectives that aren’t always easy to achieve simultaneously. Keeping her hair and accessories uncomplicated and popping with a bold red lip was the way to go.
