Good news if you’re craving a little fall wardrobe sprucing because Shopbop is having a 25% off site wide promotion, starting today through October 16th. Don’t forget to check out East Dane too for all the men in your life, this promotion running through October 18th. I don’t really “need” anything, but who doesn’t love an epic sale? I popped on over to scope things out, and now have a See by Chloe bootie, a cozy For Love & Lemons sweater, a long split front terry dress from Oak, a fresh overall from Current/Elliot,  wide leg pants from Alice + Olivia and this floppy brim fedora from Rag & Bone on my wishlist.

Head on over to the site and use code FAMILY25 at checkout .

sale’ing through summer…

rachel love

Hello friends!  I hope you had an awesome long july 4th weekend and were able to relax while spending time with friends, family, lovers and babes – bbq’s, fireworks, beach – what’s better than that?  You’ll have to forgive me for falling off the earth last week, but work got cray and I was feeling overwhelmed.  I’ve had a rejuvenating few days off and am back, ready to carry-on!  I needed a minute to step away in order come back stronger and clearer with some fresh perspective and creativity.  Make sure to pause and take a breath when necessary – it’s nourishing for the mind, body and soul!

Okay – so let’s get to it!  Since fall fashion is hitting stores – I’m sure you’ve noticed that summer product is majorly on sale (e-mails flooding your inbox yet??).  My advice is to stock up on the classics bypassing the uber trends you’ve had your eye on from the beginning of the season.  Although super pretty and compelling with the new 50% off price tag, these will likely be yesterday’s news by next summer.   By then you’ll be over it and want the new and current trend for spring/summer ’14.  Trust me – I’ve exhausted this method and hopefully learned my lesson.  Too many unworn items with tags still on in the donation pile  – has this ever happened to you?  I’ve been virtual shopping on my favorite site shopbop and found a few things I’ve dumped into my cart that I’ll certainly wear for years to come.  If you need any advice on pulling the trigger on something you’ve been coveting – reach out and I’ll be glad to help!  Happy sale’ing!  xx jenny

Have a great day, stay tuned for a stellar fall preview later this week and find me on instagram and pinterest for even more soulful style inspiration!

perfect popover…

Screen Shot 2013-05-13 at 10.42.53 AM

It is unlikely that I will buy this jcrew collection popover because there is about a 4-6 week window where the weather allows for it (think early fall and spring) and I simply cannot rationalize spending the $400 for something with such little wearability.  It will either be too cold or too hot and this piece is just too pretty to spend the majority of its lifespan tucked away in my closet!  And let’s be real, it is certainly pricey for a top.  BUT….I am fawning over it – it’s my version of design perfection.  Super stylish, comfortable, can be worn with anything and provides a boho and ethnic sensibility (which lends itself to my personal style).   Let’s play dress up anyway – sometimes we don’t need to spend a lot of money to take something beautiful, be inspired by it and create our own iteration.  I know that’s my plan!  xx #yoursoulstyle

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and lovely mother’s day. It seems us north-easterner’s are still amidst the tempermental weather patterns, today dropping to 59 degrees (45 tonight)!  Our daily head scratching days of ‘what to wear’ continue. I pulled this look from carolines mode, offering some further inspiration for you while we navigate through to the warmer temperatures. This look is spring-like and embraces the season from a fashion perspective but the blazer (offering a second layer) and embellished (closed toe) loafers keep it weather appropriate.  Shop it here…

gettin’ skirt’y

2646262620_2_4_2

Hello and happy Monday!  Last week I happened upon this zara origami skirt on a shopping expedition for a friend.  I tried very hard to stay the course and shop through the lens of “what would so and so like”, but this little number was eye’ing me from the center aisle hang bar and I couldn’t resist.  Like a seductress woman giving a man across the bar that convincing wink – I was reeled in.  I’m not a big skirt person but in my quest to continuously think (and dress) outside the box – I thought, ‘what the heck”.  As much as I feel it’s important to stay ‘comfortable’ in self expression – this is relative.  I also believe it is critical to stretch beyond our comfort zone (and I mean that in more ways than just fashion).  We should always consider the opportunity for growth and newness.  I didn’t try on the skirt – I was shopping during the 5pm rush hour and the dressing room line was already twenty deep.  I seriously could have spent hours upon end there though – the new zara concept stores are enormous and oozing with trend right, fashion goodies – all for extremely competitive prices.  Note to New Yorkers: check out the 34th street and 52nd and 5th locations!  So back to the skirt – I didn’t want to wait on the long line so added it to my pile of items and figured I could always return.  Well – no return necessary my friends.  This skirt fits like a glove and is just all over perfect!  Did I mention it cost $79.90?!?  And if you’re not digging this print, zara also offers similar here and here.  I will be wearing this skirt endlessly – most likely as such…
