There is what you always wear, what you would never wear, and what you want to wear, but don’t. Today’s post contains inspired spring streetstyle looks. Even if you don’t replicate full head-to-toe ensembles, pull elements and ideas and make it your own. Live outside of the box this season and try something you wouldn’t normally do. Keep things authentic, but reach beyond your domain. You never know what you’ll learn and where you will land. Happy Friday! Have an epic weekend filled with tons of soul & style! xx jenny
I told you that I’d be wearing this Topshop off-the-shoulder top and these Rag & Bone jeans endlessly, so putting them together is an obvious match made in (what I consider) style-heaven! Topping it off with these urban boho accessories (and “Scarlet Begonias” playing on iTunes), this look is for the perfect modern streetstyle hippie. These gladiator sandals which I scooped up from Ancient Greek are also a summer essential, worn with anything from denim, to maxi dresses to shorts. And everyone should own at least one pair of aviator sunnies, if not these Raybans then try these from Asos, these from Stella McCartney or this affordable option from Topshop . Peace out yo!
In the spirit of taking more style risks in 2014 like said here, I’ve been embracing my sportier side. I found these converse star player leather sneakers while researching for a client, and like any typical shopping-obsessed stylist, bought one pair for the photoshoot and one pair for myself. Lately instead of grabbing booties, I’ve been inserting these high tops into my look and welcoming the fresh change. And you can’t beat the comfort if you’re an urbanite whose feet are a means of transportation. While sneakers have been a streetstyle fashion choice for decades, mine have mostly been reserved for exercise. Until now. This year I’m upping my shoe game and plan on being a really good sport about it! How will you step outside of your style comfort zone in 2014? Would love to hear your stories! xx jenny

Inspired by this post and fellow bloggers, instagrammers and tastemakers around the globe, I decided to recap my first year of YSS with a “STYLE: the best of 2013” tribute. Here is a snapshot of some favorite looks from this past year. There were obvious consistencies in my overall styling, wearing mostly solid pieces and maintaining an urban boho sensibility. And I personalized each ensemble with details like hats, bags, sunnies and scarves. Style is about authenticity and finding your own rhythm, but like our mental and emotional selves, it should always be evolving. Thinking outside the box provides an opportunity for growth and if something is uncomfortable, you can simply change course. Just like Teddy Roosevelt said, “it is better to have tried and failed, than not have tried at all.” I took some chances in 2013 (ahem, crop tops!) and I can’t wait to see what develops in the coming year! My crystal ball says I will be taking many more risks. Stay tuned and join me!
Despite the Indian summer happening over here in NYC (it’s going to be 81 degrees today!), I’ve retired summer styling and moved into fall. For the past week I’ve been tripped up on what to wear (or not wear) since temperatures are unseasonably warm, but still – fall, I got your back. A few looks to inspire you through the heat wave…
Have a fantastic weekend and stay cool! xx jenny
