I told you that I’d be wearing this Topshop off-the-shoulder top and these Rag & Bone jeans endlessly, so putting them together is an obvious match made in (what I consider) style-heaven! Topping it off with these urban boho accessories (and “Scarlet Begonias” playing on iTunes), this look is for the perfect modern streetstyle hippie. These gladiator sandals which I scooped up from Ancient Greek are also a summer essential, worn with anything from denim, to maxi dresses to shorts. And everyone should own at least one pair of aviator sunnies, if not these Raybans then try these from Asos, these from Stella McCartney or this affordable option from Topshop . Peace out yo!
Fashion rules like “no white before memorial day” are silly since style is a representation of who you are, and however you wish to express that is acceptable. You can do whatever, whenever and we should all stop listening to the naysayers. With that being said, I wear white all year round – a creamier shade during the colder months and brighter during the warm. Silhouettes and garment details change on a seasonal basis too. White cozy sweaters become white eyelet tanks, white wool trousers become white flowy maxi skirts and a white body-hugging, long sleeve cocktail dress becomes a sleeveless breezy one. I’d consider crafting my entire wardrobe in white. It’s sexy yet demure, clean and fresh. A few new ideas to add to your summer whites…
When I heard that off-the-shoulder tops were making a comeback, I couldn’t wait to channel my inner Sandy. Grease has always been a favorite movie of mine and when growing up, I used to put a version of the all black ensemble on and dance around the house singing, “You’re The One That I Want” endlessly. No judgements please! My shoulders are also a favorite part of my body, so this silhouette not only makes childhood dreams come true, but accentuates that area. This Topshop bardot top was a mega steal at $44, and I’ve already scooped up the white. You won’t find me singing Grease anthems around my apartment any time soon, but I’ll be living in this top throughout my “Summer Nights“.
Styling Strategy: Wear clothing that celebrates your assets. It lands you looking and feeling your best. For me, this top highlights my shoulders, but is flowy so strategically hides my mid-section. It’s still sexy, but not in the traditional sense. Always remember to find styles that work for you and your shape!

One more week until the unofficial kick off to Summer and you can literally feel the seasons transitioning once Memorial Day rolls around. Even if the weather hasn’t fully shifted, there is just something in the air that changes. Which begs the question, what am I wearing to the BBQ’s, picnics, cocktails at sunset, boat rides, shindigs and parties to kick things off? I’m thinking super cute transition items that say, “I know it’s still not quite Summer yet, but here’s a little teaser.” A few ideas that will take you from now until Fall…

This past weekend I went to the GoogaMooga festival in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. We joked that it was a ‘poor man’s Coachella‘ but its focus is food rather than music so it’s not really an apples to apples comparison. On the other hand, like Coachella it was apparent that fashion and style played a large role. Different than the west coast’s rock ‘n’ roll boho babe who looks like this, Brooklyn’s version had a more downtown, edgy hipster feel like this. But there were hats, some fringes and cut off denim shorts and the likes so not a complete departure. Summer festivals are about to pop off in full swing so let’s get talking about festival fashion! What will you wear to Bonnaroo? Austin City Limits? Burning Man? I’d love to see how you style your festival fashion look. Send photos to email@example.com or post on instagram with the hashtag #yoursoulstyle. I’ll be dancing at Gathering of the Vibes in some of these. More to come!
