summer baby

This Summer has reinforced how much I love (and need to be by) the sea.  It recharges, reboots, and (literally and figuratively) washes my stress away.  I’m certain it’s because I entered the universe on July 1st and am a Summer baby.  Living on the east coast provides easy access to water, but the concrete jungle can sometimes make it feel far, even if this concrete jungle is an island no less.  We try and take advantage of all beach-going opportunities, but no matter the amount, it’s never enough.  With that being said, the beach is on the agenda for Sunday, and I’ll be heading back to Montauk come Monday for mini getaway.  What are you doing this beautiful August weekend?  I hope it’s something good that makes you as happy as the ocean makes me.  Cheers to the beach!  And to Summer!

hawaii 5.0

In a few weeks my wife and I are fortunate enough to travel down to Maui to visit friends Jessica and Grayson (founders of Gypset Wellness), who moved there back in January.  Jess and Gray have informed me that I should pack casual, laid back pieces (i.e., shorts, tanks and tees) since local Hawaiian style is ‘surf’ inspired and not dressy – at all!  Think Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  I’m in a bit of a fashion conundrum since I’m not your typical sporty beach babe but want to “When in Rome” it.  So what’s the solve?  It is so important that we stay true to ourselves through style expression while also having the flexibility to adapt to changing environments.  Without compromising personal style and still ensuring to be location ready – there is always a fashion-friendly medium.  Here’s a few items in my mental shopping cart that cover both the fashion and function bases.  *above photo via here

it’s beginning to look a lot like winter..

Although we’ve turned a corner on December 21st and the days are getting longer again, the bitter cold in New York is just upon us.  The end of the year usually kicks off Winter in the northeast (in full effect!) and the past few days have proven it to be true once again.  I don’t want to be greedy and say I need another vacation (we just got back from here at the end of November), but I do find myself dreaming about our recent honeymoon.  What’s so amazing about seeing beautiful places in the world is that when we actually leave them, they are still with us.  All I need to do is close my eyes and remember….
