maxed out

Because maxi dresses are the quintessential item for Summer, the recent temperature spike has found me wearing mine.  Nothing says Summer like a dress that’s as light as air and beach chic ready.  The one I’m wearing is an old gem from Rilller and Fount, but this similar style from Mango is a solid update, along with this one from Indah, this one from Velvet, this one from Lovers + Friends, and this super affordable option by ONE by Pink Stitch.

Style Tip:  For dresses that are backless, pick up Braza adhesive tape which will keep you in place and secure.  I swear by it and it has become an essential in my closet.  Use two per each breast for extra support.  I do.

cool & cool

As far as I’m concerned, Summer is basically here which means lightweight dresses and sandals are creeping their way up to the front of my closet.  I stumbled upon this Mango dress and although it was a departure from my usual floor length maxi silhouette, I thought it would be perfect for days when you need a light dress that’ll keep you cool and well – cool.  To toughen it up and personalize, I added a black moto jacket for a pop of edge.  But for warmer days, I’ll switch it out for denim.  I also kept the shoes nude to elongate my (very pale!) legs, since sometimes black stops the eye, causing legs to appear shorter.  This dress is sure to have mileage straight into September (I’ve already worn it 3x) and the price point cannot be beat at $79.99!  Mango has tons of great styles if this one isn’t for you, all at affordable prices so shop to it!

SHOP IT:  dress: Mango (similar or similar), jacket: Sfera (similar), shoes: cole haan (similar or similar), sunnies: Ray Ban, bag: Chloe, bracelets (from top to bottom): J.crew (similar), Marisa Haskell, vintage, vintage, lip: Bite (pomegranate)

splurge vs. steal: denim

spring denim

I have been gushing about GAP boyfriend jeans for a while now, like we discussed here.  Needless to say, I have literally not taken them off my body ALL WINTER LONG!  It’s just too easy to grab them from my closet chair in the morning when one eye is half open and I need to throw together a comfortable and easygoing ensemble.  With spring close by (thank god!), I’m looking for my next go-to pair and after perusing the likes of net-a-porter and shopbop where designer styles average around $200, landed myself right back at GAP coveting these at $69.95 each.  In case you need help with the math here, that’s basically three pairs for the price of one!  For real.  Mega steal, no?  These will definitely become closet staples in my spring wardrobe so don’t be surprised when you spot me here wearing all three as such…

Happy shopping & weekend! xx jenny

transition mode

josefinCould there possibly be a better summer into fall transition ensemble than this?  I sometimes find myself confused about what to wear when the season comes to a close, but yet it’s too early for sweaters.  When you’re holding on to the last bit of warmth before the brisk weather settles in – what’s a gal to do?  This outfit has got me inspired.  The white tee keeps things light for those seventy degree days and the moto jacket is an ideal piece to layer on in the morning and post-sunset.  Although the silhouette of the pant demonstrates a summery feel, adding the leather and going with the trending color red says you’re serious about fall!  Shop similar here…

cozy cool

NYC sweatshirt

As I mentioned in this post – I have a few items in my cart from the new H&M online shop such as this trending NYC inspired sweatshirt.  Traditional sweatshirt wearing days are for cozying up on the couch, traveling or weekly visits to the market, but that’s old news.  This fall they’re getting more love – to be paired with polished pieces like blazers, sexy slim fitting trousers and a clutch bag.  Keep it basic with this one by current/elliot or if you like more zing, try this embellished style from j.crew.  I’ll be wearing mine to parties and dinners as such….
