weekly finds: handbags

weekly finds

It’s the weekend! WOO to the HOO! This week was a bit busy, but in the very good-busy kind of way. Do you ever have those types of weeks? I’m so grateful to be feeling creatively inspired again after such a tough year because in those darkest moments, it felt like this part of me would never resurface. With some time, patience, self-care and new collaborations, my head is swirling with ideas. I can’t wait to see what the coming months will bring. For this Weekly Finds post, I originally wanted to put together a list of women who have been inspiring me of late, with tons of soul and lot’s of style. But I realized mid-week that I needed more time to work on it. Instead, I got to thinking about handbags! Stylish in a whole different kind of way! Although the only one I’ll likely be purchasing come spring will have a compartment for diapers and bottles, I’m certain you’ll want something more fun! With that said, some faves for the warmer days ahead…

supersize it

we the people

Hello friends!  I hope you had a most amazing labor day weekend!  We spent a couple of days outside the city, but were mostly local, super mellow and enjoying the extremely rare silence of the urban jungle.  I cannot believe summer has unofficially ended and while the weather through September remains warm (hello 93 degrees in NYC yesterday!), fall is conceivably here.  This will likely come back to bite me in the ass three months from now, but I am excited for it!  I’ve come to the conclusion that I equally love a chunky sweater as much as a long bohemian’esque maxi dress.  #Truth

With that being said, this season bigger is actually better.  Oversized coats, knits, pants, etc. and who doesn’t love cozy and comfortable when the temperature starts to decline?  I’ve been making mental notes of my “uniform” which will consist of an oversized sweater, a relaxed pant, comfortable booties, a giant scarf, topped with my Urban Outifitters hat that I’ve legit not taken off since purchasing, and a bold red lip.  I’m also debating a major haircut situation, but remain on the fence.  One that resembles Beyonce’s.  Should I bite the bullet and go for it?  What do you guys think?  Other items on the wish list are a Tibi cardigan, this Alice + Olivia coat, this Acne Studios scarf, a wear-with-everything BLK Denim sweatshirt, a turtleneck sweater from Zara (and this cardigan and this crewneck too).  I am also loving these faux leather joggers and a faux fur coatFree People jacket and Mango cocoon coat because outerwear is just as essential as what’s underneath since always on!  I already scooped up these because after embracing my sportier side last year, I’m ready to kick it up a notch.

Do you have your “uniform” picked out yet?  Get in touch with me for personal styling via Keaton Row so I can put together a lookbook(s) for you.  I’d love to help you get locked and loaded for the season.  And remember the service is free.  All you pay for is the clothes you buy!

trend: emerald

diego zuko

According to The New York Fall 2014 Runway Report by Harpers Bazaar, the color green (emerald specifically) is trending.  Although I usually stick to neutrals, I could get into this.  It’s neutral’ish and works on most skin tones since it’s a saturated hue, especially if your pale in the colder months like me.  My roundup of pieces includes this Tibi cami that I’d likely layer under chunky sweaters, a faux suede moto jacket from Mango, and an oversize cozy sweater, jumpsuit and midi skirt from Zara.  Accessories that live on the splurge wishlist are Isabel Marant boots, a Chloe marcie bag, and fedora from Maison Michel. Happy almost weekend!  xx

shine on

metallic home pic

I have no idea where i am going in this outfit but I hope it’s somewhere fabulous, and hope that time is sometime soon.  I’ve been obsessed with it since the try on session and instagram snap over a month ago.  Spring is a buzzing here in NYC and as far as seasonal trends go, metallic is high up on the list of must-haves. Who says sparkle is just for the holiday season?  Rules are made to be broken, clearly.  The best part about this ensemble is not the mere fact that I was able to find a coordinated top and bottom in the coveted silver metallic color.  It’s that both of these pieces from H&M, together were $65!!!  I swear this may be the best investment I’ve ever made.  I appreciate a luxury item no less then the next person, but when finding exactly what I want for a steal – you can sign me right up, STAT!  The weather is warming here in NYC and this head-to-toe look is begging for a night out, along with other metallics I found on the interweb like this rose gold option from Topshop, an effortless high-low maxi dress from Alice & Olivia, this wear-with-everything cami by Parker, and this green (be still my heart) cropped, embroidered beaut from Zara.

festival fashion…

27-55a0608-natalie-saurez

This past weekend I went to the GoogaMooga festival in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.  We joked that it was a ‘poor man’s Coachella‘ but its focus is food rather than music so it’s not really an apples to apples comparison.  On the other hand, like Coachella it was apparent that fashion and style played a large role.  Different than the west coast’s rock ‘n’ roll boho babe who looks like this, Brooklyn’s version had a more downtown, edgy hipster feel like this.  But there were hats, some fringes and cut off denim shorts and the likes so not a complete departure.  Summer festivals are about to pop off in full swing so let’s get talking about festival fashion!  What will you wear to BonnarooAustin City LimitsBurning Man?  I’d love to see how you style your festival fashion look.  Send photos to yoursoulstyle@gmail.com or post on instagram with the hashtag #yoursoulstyle.  I’ll be dancing at Gathering of the Vibes in some of these.  More to come!
