back to the beach

beach getaway

Hello and happy Friday! It’s getting chilly here in NYC and despite my great love of summer, I’m excited for winter’s coziness and of course the holidays which are right around the corner! So much celebrating and goodness ahead. And possibly a warm getaway in-between the sparkle and eggnog? Dina and I have a trip on the calendar to head down to the Caribbean in early December and I’m so looking forward to it. In lieu of planning ahead (I am type A to the fullest), I started to shop around for a few new breezy dresses to throw in my suitcase. The way I pack for beach getaways is pretty simple: a light, airy dress for each evening, a few bikinis, cover-ups and shoes that go from day to night. I don’t really need much else and will likely do without shoes at all if circumstances permit. With that said, I’ve already scooped up a gorgeous maxi from Reformation, a caftan from Free People, and a gauze dress from Black Crane, that I was coveting all summer long, which is unfortunately sold out. Don’t fret though, because there are so many other choices that will work for your vacay, and many of them on sale since the season is now over. I’ve personally got my eyes on a hot pink swing maxi from ASOS to take me from beach to dinner, a strapless from Ella Moss, a peach plunge neckline style from Indah which will look outstanding with a tan (this one from Indah too!), a cheetah print halter from Zimmerman, and a sleek wrap dress from Norma Kamali.

Now onto swimsuits! Stay tuned…

Happy weekend’ing!

Good day everyone!  Happy Monday!  Summer is a comin’ and although I unfortunately won’t be traipsing around europe on holiday, hopefully you will be!  I dream of myself in the above look so wanted to pay it forward – I’ll be vicariously living through you lucky travelers.  This dress is perfection – light and lovely, easy to pack, comfortable, stylish and warm-weather friendly.  None of us need to fuss when we are playing tourist, up at the crack of dawn and exploring the ins and outs of a new city or beach all day.  Shop it here!

hawaii 5.0

In a few weeks my wife and I are fortunate enough to travel down to Maui to visit friends Jessica and Grayson (founders of Gypset Wellness), who moved there back in January.  Jess and Gray have informed me that I should pack casual, laid back pieces (i.e., shorts, tanks and tees) since local Hawaiian style is ‘surf’ inspired and not dressy – at all!  Think Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  I’m in a bit of a fashion conundrum since I’m not your typical sporty beach babe but want to “When in Rome” it.  So what’s the solve?  It is so important that we stay true to ourselves through style expression while also having the flexibility to adapt to changing environments.  Without compromising personal style and still ensuring to be location ready – there is always a fashion-friendly medium.  Here’s a few items in my mental shopping cart that cover both the fashion and function bases.  *above photo via here
