At some point or another we’ve all channeled Carrie Bradshaw be it emotionally or through fashion, usually relating to at least one or the other, (or both) right? I was between the ages of 18-25 during the original Sex and the City series and was constantly inspired by the creations that Patricia Field put together for our beloved quintessential NYC fashion gal. As a budding stylist during that time, I couldn’t wait for each week (and season) to pass to see what she came up with next. The more far-out the better and I appreciated the risk-taking, individualism and creativity. Still taking cues 10 years later (and from Leandra Medine, the real life version of Carrie Bradshaw), I decided to try out the old scarf-around-the-arm styling technique to add interest to this wear-with-everything black cotton jumpsuit by Brooke Coleman. The scarf, which my mama handed down to me a few weeks back from her mother, added meaning beyond just its aesthetic value. I’m also a total sucker for a jumpsuit, especially this one which is SO comfortable that I’ve been living in it all summer. More on this jumpsuit and Brooke Coleman later (stay tuned for a Spotlight Feature in the coming weeks!). In the meantime, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw herself, “So many roads. So many detours. So many choices. So many mistakes.” But in reality, the biggest mistake, is being too afraid to make one at all. Even when it comes to your style.
